Some flavors are just too good to forget. As we kick off a new year, we’re taking a tasty look back at the sweet treats and savory staples that stole the spotlight at last year’s Tulsa State Fair.

This viral dessert was a crowd favorite, taking home 1st Place in the Sweet Treat category and the Overall Winner title in our 2025 Awesome Eats Competition. These skewers feature an assortment of fruits, such as strawberries, oranges, grapes, and more. Each skewer is dipped into a hot, sugary syrup, then plunged into an ice bath to get its glass-like hard candy shell. The crunch is unbelievable and left fairgoers coming back for more.

Who doesn’t love a good, old-fashioned basket of fries? This loaded version takes the perfect food item up a notch (or two). Featuring crispy, seasoned fries piled with Korean beef, cheese, a drizzle of delicious spicy mayo, crunchy Hot Cheetos, onion, and cilantro, these fries know how to pack a savory punch.

We’re not done with French fries just yet! The Dill Pickle Poutine from R&J Concessions is a dream come true for savory lovers. Golden, crispy fries are covered in creamy homemade ranch dressing, layered with crunchy, refreshing dill pickles, melty cheese curds, and fresh dill. It’s a match made in heaven for a hot day on the Midway.

Loaded Pineapple Lamb Chops from Hibachi in Tha Hood

This is one you could share with your Fair friends (or not, we won’t judge). This dish not only wins in presentation, but also in flavor. A hollowed half pineapple filled to the brim with mouth-watering hibachi fried rice, three tender lamb chops, and finished with a drizzle of swag sauce. It’s the perfect combo of sweetness from the pineapple and savory from the rice and lamb chops. It’s not your typical Fair food, which is exactly why it became a fan favorite last year.

Caramel Apple Pie from Cutie Pies

This sweet treat from Cutie Pies gives the classic caramel apple some competition. Crisp green apple wedges sit upon a sweet graham cracker pie crust, drizzled with caramel syrup and layered with caramel cream filling. It’s finished with a topping of whipped cream and even more caramel sauce. What’s not to love?

From deliciously sweet to satisfyingly savory, last year’s Awesome Eats competitors wowed our taste buds with every bite and left us wanting more. We’re counting down the days to see what new and exciting creations this year’s Awesome Eats Competition brings to the Midway!
